Independence Celebrate Goenkan:

As India marked its 72nd Independence Day on August 15, 2018, the entire nation welcomed this day with ardent patriotism. Students of G D Goenka Public School, Lucknow showcased their affection and respect towards the nation through a cultural programme. Hon’ble Justice Mr. Rang Nath Pandey (Addln.) raised and unfurled the tri-color in the school premises followed by a singing of the National Song.
Mr. Sarvesh Goel, a Chairman, welcomed the Chief Guest, members of the trust and the students to them. While addressing the audience he told how our freedom fighters had initially thought of achieving freedom and executed their plans through grit and determination. Likewise, he asked the students to be determined in their deeds which help them attain success and achieving their dreams. He said, “Future belongs to those who believe in their dreams.”
He also asked the students to note the contribution of our leaders and freedom fighters. Even when things were not in their favor, they struggled and made free India a possibility. So the students must remember their work and take them as examples in today’s time. He mentioned how social media has created unwarranted problems for the citizens. He asked the students to be wise enough to decide whether the information holds importance or is misguiding.

Lastly, as the custodians of this planet, we need to improve and save this earth for our future. We also need to imbibe good habits, embark upon our values and carry out deeds of determination. The students paid heed to his inspiring words from which they would certainly imbibe respect and responsibility towards our great nation.
School’s Headboy, Sutikshan Singh, narrated the heroic deeds of Bhagat Singh, Bipin Chandra Pal, and Gandhi in his opening speech to the audience. He also mentioned the contribution of the entire nation in the struggle for freedom and that it wasn’t just possible by a few. He asked the students to stand united in these present times to uphold the sovereignty of the nation.
The cultural programme presented by the students was based on the theme as to how terrorism has encroached our homes and citizens falling prey to fake patriotism. Recreating the colorful and bright country the young citizens prepared a dance-drama where everyone lives peacefully in accord with each other. The students exchanged dialogues where they inform others of the nation’s achievements and rich history. The second part of the play is the rise of terrorism. Wherein how families lose their loved ones and cause irreparable loss to the nation. A scene in the play also depicts how are young minds are instigated and brought under camps to train for anti-national acts.
The school choir sang a medley of patriotic songs invoking the spirit of freedom and independence with the soul-stirring lyrics. A street play was performed by the young students focusing on the prevalence of citizens faking patriotism. Anecdotes of ordinary people demonstrating patriotism as per wish and need were enacted on stage provoking thoughts in the audience. It was an insight as to how we take our freedom for granted and abuse the liberty given to us. It was much appreciated by the audience and especially praised by the Chief Guest in his speech.
In his address to the august gathering, he asked the students to dream beyond the sky as they hold the potential to achieve greater things. He said India is a multicultural and multi-religious country so as the future leaders we must protect our country by standing tall against the problems we face. He advised the students to never back down and quoted that no one has done so from fulfilling our duties as a citizen and protecting the country from atrocities. He also that he was delighted with being part of this programme which showcased the diversity of the country so well. He did note the school’s achievements and congratulated everyone on being ranked among the Best 50 schools of the nation.
