GD Goenka Public School celebrated Grandparents’ Day and Diwali Mela with immense enthusiasm and warmth on 17th October 2025. The event aimed to express love, respect, and gratitude towards grandparents while embracing the joyous spirit of Diwali — the festival of lights. The theme of the celebration, “The Great Goenkan Show,” was inspired by ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ and beautifully blended entertainment with emotion. The stage came alive as students, dressed as witty hosts and lively guests, recreated the fun and laughter of a talk show format, much to the delight of the audience.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. Chairman of the school Mr Sarvesh Goel, Principal Dr Prerna Mitra and Director Mrs Lalita Goel attended the event as special guests.The event then unfolded with a series of captivating performances by students from Toddler to Grade II, each one thoughtfully choreographed and filled with energy and affection.
The show opened with a joyful welcome dance, setting a vibrant tone for the day. This was followed by a heart-warming skit that beautifully depicted the unconditional love and wisdom of grandparents. A melodious musical medley celebrated the special bond between generations, while a dynamic fusion dance added a touch of glamour and festivity to the celebration. The show’s light-hearted humour, graceful performances, and cheerful compering kept the audience thoroughly entertained, echoing the laughter-filled essence of The Kapil Sharma Show.
Grandparents were warmly received by the school staff and student volunteers. The Selfie Corner added a playful, interactive element, allowing families to capture joyful moments together. Adding to the festive atmosphere, diwali craft was exhibited as part of the Diwali Mela, where students showcased their creativity through colourful diyas, lanterns, torans, and rangoli art. The vibrant display reflected the upcoming festival of Diwali, filling the campus with lights, colours and celebration.
On this joyful occasion, Chairman Mr Sarvesh Goel addressed the august gathering and expressed his gratitude and highlighted the impact of grandparents’ love, guidance and values on the lives of small children.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the grandparents’ invaluable presence and blessings. The day beautifully combined entertainment, emotion, and festivity, making it a truly memorable occasion that celebrated the bond between generations and the joy of togetherness.
