GD Goenka School Lucknow hosted its two-day Annual Sports Day ‘Sport-a-Thon 2.0’ on November 29 and 30, 2025, with great enthusiasm and whole hearted participation from students of both Shaheed Path and Mahanagar branches. The campus buzzed with excitement as students, teachers, and parents came together to celebrate teamwork, athletic spirit and discipline.

On 29 November the Pre-Primary to Class VII put up a series of programs. In the morning session, Pre-Primary and Primary students delighted the audience with events like the Tricycle Race, Pom-Pom Feet Drill, Jelly Jiggle Race, Spider Race, Ribbon Drill, Hula Hoop Race, and several creative fun races. Students of Classes I and II performed coordinated drills and participated in races like Dress-Up Dash, Pass the Ball, Balloon Race, and Relay Race. Parents also joined in specially organised events, adding joy to the celebrations.

The afternoon session featured activities for Classes III to VII. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and member of Rajyasabha, Dr. Dinesh Sharma was the Chief Guest for this event. Colourful drill performances including Waves of Joy, Rainbow Ripples and Recycled Rhythmic captivated the audience. Thrilling events such as the 200m Race, Hurdle Race, Sack Race, 50m Sprint and Relay Races kept the excitement alive. Medals and certificates were awarded to winners. Chairman of the school, Mr Sarvesh Goel encouraged students to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make sports a part of their daily routine. The day concluded with the spectacular Fusion Frenzy finale.

On 30 November the ceremony began with an impressive March Past by the Student Council and the four houses, showcasing perfect discipline and coordination. The event was formally inaugurated with the Lighting of the Torch, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship. This was followed by the Sports Pledge, administered by the School Sports Captain, Kritika Prakash. Chairman Mr Sarvesh Goel then declared the meet open with the release of pigeons, marking a moment of peace, hope, and new beginnings. The Principal of the school Dr Prerna Mitra and Director Ms Lalita Goel were also present during the occasion.

A graceful Inaugural Dance – “Harmony in Nature”, performed by the students of Class IX, captivated the audience with its synchrony and message. The school’s achievements—both academic and cultural—were proudly highlighted in the School Report presented by the Principal Dr. Prerna Mitra.

Adding a touch of nostalgia, a Slow Cycling Race for the alumni brought cheers from the crowd. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony for athletic events from Classes VIII to XII. The achievers of the Board Results (Classes X and XII) were also felicitated with certificates and medals for their outstanding performance.

A special fun-filled Parents’ Game delighted everyone, taking the parents back to their own childhood days. The NCC Cadets then showcased their impressive formations, demonstrating discipline and commitment.

In his inspiring address, the Chief Guest encouraged students to strive harder, and continue to echo the school’s motto, ‘Thrive for Life’

  • Cock House Trophy – Teresa House

The grand finale was a spectacular presentation by the students of Class XI—‘The Rhythm of Life’, a mesmerizing display of formations and lights. The event concluded with an address by Chairman Mr. Sarvesh Goel. He highlighted the importance of sports in building confidence, discipline, and unity among students. He also congratulated the Principal and entire team of the school for putting up such a spectacular show. This was followed by the soulful rendition of the National Song, “Vande Mataram”. The two-day Sports Day ended on a high note, leaving behind memories of sportsmanship, teamwork, and celebration.
