GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow continues to set benchmarks in experiential and joyful learning by organising a series of creative, space-themed activities for students from Nursery to Class II. Designed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the initiative aimed to foster curiosity, imagination, and scientific thinking among young learners while introducing them to the wonders of space, planets, and astronomy in a fun and age-appropriate manner.

The space exploration activity was thoughtfully curated to promote hands-on learning, ensuring that children did not merely learn concepts theoretically but experienced them through creative expression. The classrooms transformed into vibrant learning spaces filled with colourful models, charts, and student-made crafts reflecting the mysteries of the universe. Through these engaging activities, students developed observation skills, creativity, and an early appreciation for science.

The tiny tots from Nursery enthusiastically participated by creating their own planets using sponge dabbers and forks. This sensory-based activity helped them explore different textures and colours while understanding the concept of planets in a playful way. The children displayed immense excitement as they experimented with shapes and patterns, making learning both enjoyable and memorable.

LKG students took their imagination a step further by crafting colourful paper rockets, symbolising their journey into space. As they worked on their creations, teachers guided them to understand the basic idea of space travel and rockets in a simplified manner. This activity encouraged fine motor skills, teamwork, and imaginative thinking, laying a strong foundation for future scientific curiosity.

UKG students participated in a collaborative group activity where they explored the solar system. Through interactive discussions and visual aids, they identified different planets and learned interesting facts about each one. Working together in groups helped them develop communication skills, cooperation, and confidence while deepening their understanding of astronomy.

Class I students demonstrated their learning by creating interactive moon phase sliders. This innovative craft activity helped them understand how the moon changes its shape every night. By moving the slider, students visually observed the various phases of the moon, making an abstract concept simple and engaging. The activity strengthened their conceptual clarity and encouraged inquiry-based learning.

Class II students further enhanced their knowledge by completing worksheets related to the solar system. These worksheets reinforced classroom learning and assessed their understanding of planets, moon phases, and space-related facts in a structured yet enjoyable manner. The blend of creative activities and academic reinforcement ensured holistic learning.

The space exploration programme successfully combined creativity with scientific understanding, making learning meaningful and impactful. Teachers played a vital role by guiding students patiently, encouraging questions, and nurturing curiosity at every step. The initiative reflected the school’s commitment to providing innovative learning experiences that go beyond textbooks.

Overall, the creative activities based on space, planets, and astronomy not only enhanced scientific understanding but also helped students develop creativity, teamwork, confidence, and problem-solving skills. The event proved to be an enriching experience, inspiring young learners to look at the universe with wonder and curiosity while making learning exciting, interactive, and memorable.
