Goenkan Students promised their teachers that like Lord Ganesha, they too would abide by the elders’ wisdom and be devoted towards their parents.

The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesha clay idols privately in homes, or publicly on elaborate pandals.

Observations include chanting of Vedic hymns and Hindu texts such as Ganapati Upanishad, prayers and vrata (fasting). Offerings and prasadam from the daily prayers, that is distributed from the pandal to the community, include sweets such as modaka believed to be a favorite of the elephant-headed deity.

Though the festival is celebrated all over India it is celebrated in a grand style in places of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The pooja lasts for 1 month after which the visarjan of Ganesha. For this special day, we have nicely gathered lots of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates in Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. It is believed that Goddess Parvati created Lord Ganesha from the dirt on her body, and told him to guard the door while she was having a bath. It was at this point of time that Lord Shiva returned home.
