GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, recently organised a vibrant day-and-night adventure camp that provided students with an enriching learning experience beyond the confines of classrooms. Designed for students from Nursery to Class 8, the camp aimed to foster confidence, teamwork, resilience, and leadership through carefully curated outdoor activities in collaboration with Victory Adventure Camp.
The initiative reflected the school’s commitment to holistic education, emphasising experiential learning alongside academic excellence. Students from Nursery to Class 5 participated in the day camp, while learners from Classes 6 to 8 took part in the night camp, ensuring age-appropriate engagement and safety at every stage.
The programme commenced with a detailed orientation session, where trained instructors briefed students about safety protocols, teamwork, and discipline. This initial interaction helped build trust and enthusiasm among participants while setting the tone for a structured yet exciting experience.
Throughout the camp, students enthusiastically participated in a wide range of adventure activities. The zip line offered a thrilling rush and helped students overcome fear, while the Burma Bridge tested balance, courage, and focus. Activities such as the commando net and sports climbing challenged physical endurance and encouraged perseverance. Younger students delighted in the trampoline, roller zorb, and tyre swing, which brought joy, laughter, and energy to the atmosphere.
Traditional games like hopscotch and engaging camp games added an element of nostalgia and inclusivity, allowing children to bond across age groups. The carefully planned activities ensured that each child experienced both fun and personal growth, while learning the value of cooperation and mutual support.
The night camp proved to be a highlight for senior students. Campfire activities, including storytelling, singing, and group games, created a lively and joyful environment that strengthened peer connections. One of the most memorable experiences was the treasure hunt and stargazing session, during which students learned about nature, discipline, survival skills, and teamwork under expert guidance.
The camp concluded the next morning with a reflection session, where students shared their experiences and learnings. A hearty breakfast and prize distribution ceremony followed, celebrating participation, teamwork, and enthusiasm rather than competition alone.
School Principal Dr Prerna Mitra emphasised the importance of physical activities in nurturing leadership qualities, problem-solving abilities, and emotional resilience. She highlighted that such experiential programmes play a vital role in shaping confident, balanced, and socially aware individuals.
