GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, hosted its highly awaited two-day Annual Sports Festival, transforming the campus into a vibrant arena of energy, colour, and celebration. Students from both the Shaheed Path and Mahanagar campuses participated with great enthusiasm, making the sports fiesta a true reflection of GD Goenka’s commitment to promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and holistic development. The event aligned with the school’s vision of fostering discipline, sportsmanship, and cultural grounding, values it has championed since its establishment in 2011.
The festival began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting and torch inauguration by Chairman Sarvesh Goel, marking the official commencement of the sports festivities. The four school houses, accompanied by the NCC cadets, presented a coordinated march-past, showcasing impeccable discipline and synchronisation. The presence of Rajya Sabha Member Dr. Dinesh Sharma as the chief guest added prestige to the occasion. He encouraged students to “stay connected to their culture and strive for excellence,” emphasising the role of sports in shaping confident and value-oriented young citizens.
A range of lively events filled the ground with excitement. Younger children participated in engaging activities such as the tricycle race, run-to-love run, pom-pom drill, jelly jiggle race, and spider race, each event designed to build motor skills, balance, and enthusiasm for physical fitness. Their joy and laughter set the tone for a festival filled with colour and creativity.
Older students impressed the audience with polished performances in the Flower Drill, Flap-and-Clap Drill, Dress-Up Dash, Pass-the-Ball Race, and Balloon Race. The highlight of the cultural-sports blend was the breathtaking Lotus Formation Presentation, where performers dressed in coordinated pink costumes created a mesmerising visual resembling blooming lotus petals. The display was widely appreciated for its grace, precision, and aesthetic appeal.
Friendly competition among the school houses added to the excitement. Students demonstrated coordination, dedication, and a healthy competitive spirit in every race and drill. In recognition of outstanding performances throughout the fest, the Teresa House was awarded the Best Performance Trophies, celebrating their collective effort, discipline, and teamwork.
The Annual Sports Festival once again reaffirmed GD Goenka’s status as a school that nurtures not only academic excellence but also physical well-being and character development. With its expansive sports facilities, trained coaches, and emphasis on structured physical education, the school continues to provide an environment where students grow into confident, well-rounded individuals ready to embrace future challenges.
