GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, recently hosted its much-anticipated two-day Annual Sports Day, Sport-a-Thon 2.0, with great enthusiasm and spirited participation from students of the Shaheed Path and Mahanagar branches. The vibrant event highlighted the school’s strong commitment to physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and overall personality development, creating an atmosphere of energy, excitement, and sportsmanship across the campus.
The first day of Sport-a-Thon 2.0 was dedicated to students from the pre-primary section to Class VII. Young learners participated in a variety of fun-filled and skill-enhancing activities designed to promote coordination, balance, and confidence. Events such as the Tricycle Race, Pom-Pom Feet Drill, Jelly Jiggle Race, and several other creative races brought smiles to faces and cheers from parents and teachers alike. These activities not only encouraged physical movement but also helped children develop motor skills in an enjoyable and stress-free environment.
Students from Classes I and II showcased impressive coordination through structured drills and simple races, while senior primary students demonstrated agility, focus, and teamwork in competitive athletic events. The afternoon session of the first day was dedicated to students from Classes III to VII and was graced by the presence of the former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Rajya Sabha member, Dr Dinesh Sharma, who attended as the chief guest. His presence added immense value to the occasion as he encouraged students to embrace sports as an integral part of a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.

School Chairman Mr Sarvesh Goel addressed the gathering and motivated students to lead active lives, emphasising that sports play a crucial role in building resilience, leadership qualities, and mental strength. He reiterated the school’s belief that education must go beyond academics to nurture well-rounded individuals.
The second day of Sport-a-Thon 2.0 began with an impressive March Past led by the Student Council and the four school houses, reflecting discipline, unity, and teamwork. The lighting of the torch and the administration of the Sports Pledge by the school sports captain, Kritika Prakash, marked the formal commencement of the day’s events. Principal Dr Prerna Mitra and Director Ms Lalita Goel were present to encourage and applaud the participants for their dedication and sportsmanlike spirit.
Special attractions of the day included athletic events for students from Classes VIII to XII, a slow cycling race for alumni, and exciting parents’ games that added a fun and inclusive element to the celebration. The disciplined formations and performances by the NCC cadets further enhanced the grandeur of the event, earning admiration from the audience.
The prize distribution ceremony honoured outstanding performers and board achievers from Classes X and XII. The NCC Cadets Team won the prestigious March Past Trophy, while Teresa House proudly secured both the Flagship Trophy and the Cock House Trophy, celebrating excellence in discipline and performance.
The event concluded with a spectacular grand finale titled “Rhythm of Life”, presented by Class XI students. The mesmerising performance beautifully blended music, movement, and emotion, leaving the audience spellbound and bringing the two-day celebration to a memorable close.
Sport-a-Thon 2.0 truly reflected GD Goenka Public School’s vision of nurturing physically fit, confident, and socially responsible individuals, making the event a resounding success.
