Students of GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow attended an insightful and interactive traffic awareness session that helped them understand the essentials of road safety, driving licence (DL) rules, and the functioning of modern traffic cameras. The workshop was organised as part of the school’s ongoing efforts to equip students with practical knowledge that ensures responsible behaviour on the roads.
The session was conducted by Syed Ehraz Hasan, Senior Traffic Trainer at the Traffic Training Park, who explained important aspects of road regulations, traffic signals, and the significance of safe commuting. Through engaging discussions and real-life examples, students learned why following traffic rules is crucial not only for their safety but also for that of fellow commuters.
One of the key highlights of the session was the explanation of how a Driving Licence (DL) is issued, the age-related rules for applying, and the step-by-step process involved in obtaining one. Students were excited to learn about the roles of the learner’s licence, driving tests, and official approval required to become a responsible road user.
The trainer also demonstrated how traffic cameras operate, showing how they record violations such as overspeeding, jumping signals, or riding without a helmet. This real-time insight encouraged students to understand the importance of abiding by rules even when no traffic officer is physically present.
Students were also educated about the importance of wearing helmets, seat belts, reflectors, and maintaining proper vehicle documents. The session emphasized safety practices on bicycles, two-wheelers, and school transport as well.
Principal Dr. Prerna Mitra appreciated the initiative, highlighting that such awareness programmes help students become responsible citizens and develop lifelong safety habits.
The event concluded with enthusiastic participation from students, who interacted actively and promised to spread the message of road safety within their families and communities.
