Education acquires greater meaning when students learn to contribute positively to society. Reflecting this spirit, the Community Service Club of GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, organised a visit to the Anganwadi Kendra at Ghuswal Kala, Lucknow, on July 18, providing students with a meaningful opportunity to practise empathy, compassion and social responsibility.
Aligned with the government’s Mission Poshan Abhiyaan and its focus on addressing malnutrition, the students distributed nutrient-dense food items such as jaggery, ghee and dates among children at the Anganwadi Kendra. The initiative helped students understand how thoughtful community participation can contribute to the health and well-being of children.
Going beyond a one-time contribution, the Community Service Club introduced a Buddy System designed to create sustained engagement. Under the initiative, two senior students were paired with each Anganwadi child to monitor their health and well-being during future visits. This approach introduced students to the importance of continuity, responsibility and long-term community involvement.
The Goenkans also conducted interactive awareness sessions for the young children, highlighting the importance of personal health, hygiene practices and pursuing educational goals. Through direct interaction and service, senior students gained valuable lessons that extend beyond conventional classroom learning.
Initiatives such as these demonstrate why GD Goenka is regarded as a strong choice for parents seeking the Best CBSE school in Lucknow. The school’s progressive approach to education focuses not only on academic development but also on nurturing socially conscious, compassionate and responsible young citizens.
The visit to Ghuswal Kala was therefore more than a community outreach programme. It became an experiential learning opportunity that encouraged students to recognise their responsibilities towards society and understand the value of service with empathy and purpose.
