Guinness World Records:

On Saturday, 550 students of Lucknow, together with DNA isolation Experiment, registered their names in Guinness World Records under the Fourth Indian International Science Festival. This experiment was done by the Science and Technology Ministry in the students of GD Goenka Public School. During this time the students used DNA isolation from banana.

On this occasion, Dr. Renu Swarup, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, said that this kind of experiment will not only increase the name of India but also increase the trend towards science in the students. The chairman of the institute told that before this, 302 people in the USA had made a record of DNA isolation.

The feat these teenagers achieved – being the highest number of people in the world to simultaneously extract DNA from bananas.

The students, from G D Goenka School in Lucknow, participated in a mass experiment to extract DNA at the ongoing India International Science Festival or IISF, and completed the task in a mere 90 minutes.
