GD Goenka Public School Lucknow celebrated the Newspaper Collection Drive on February 24, 2026, with great enthusiasm and active participation from both students and parents. The initiative aimed to promote awareness about recycling, responsible reuse of resources, and environmental sustainability.
Parents extended wholehearted support by sending clean and neatly bundled old newspapers from home. A special highlight of the event was the “Waste to Wonder” activity, during which students of Nursery to UKG enthusiastically participated in creating handmade paper using old paper bags and used sheets. With the help of a paper-moulding frame, they successfully created fresh sheets from recycled materials. As the sheets dried naturally in the sunshine, students observed the drying process, fostering patience and an appreciation for natural elements at work. They were thrilled to witness the transformation of waste into usable paper and eagerly expressed their creativity by drawing artwork on the newly prepared sheets.
The activity not only sparked excitement but also deepened their understanding of recycling through hands-on learning. Students of Classes I and II actively contributed to the collection drive and learned the importance of responsible resource management. The Newspaper Collection Drive proved to be more than just an eco-friendly initiative; it was a meaningful and enriching learning experience. It effectively instilled the values of sustainability, creativity, responsibility, and teamwork among students.
