Model United Nation 2022 held at GD Goenka Public School Lucknow:-

Keeping in mind this line of thought, GD Goenka has always empowered and encouraged the concept of Model United Nations 2022 for its students. GDGPS MUN has been one of the most awaited conferences not only in the school but also in the Lucknow MUN Circuit.

The sixth edition of two days Model United Nation was organized on 12 and 13 October 2021 at GD Goenka Public School Lucknow. During the event, a total of 432 students from different schools gathered as representatives of different countries and discussed various problems of the world and their solutions.

The opening ceremony on day one began with the lighting of the lamp by Ms.Lalita Goel, the Chief Guest of the event and Ms Zuha, the Secretary General, Director General and Deputy Secretary General of GDGPS MUN 2022. The Principal Dr Prerna Mitra addressed the delegates through video conferencing and welcomed them with her words of wisdom and encouragement in the opening ceremony.

The Principal’s Speech was followed by Deputy General Saundarya Nair’s speech who welcomed the delegates and wished them luck. Director General, Karan Agarwal too addressed the students and welcomed them. An introductory video and a trailor of GDGPS MUN 2022 were also screened for the delegates.

The first day began with a general introduction of the agendas by the Executive Board Members followed up by a brief discussion on the agenda and a short introductory speech by all the present delegates marking their country’s stance. The delegates discussed and debated upon the moderated causes set by them in the three sessions throughout the day.

On the second day of the conference, the delegates of all eight committees of GDGPS MUN 2022 participated enthusiastically and maintained the flow. The committees came to unique and creative conclusions adhering to world issues.

A review from the Director General took place followed by a press conference by IP journalists with all the committee members.

The Closing Ceremony of GDGPS MUN 2022 was held on 13 October 2022. In a recorded message from Smriti Brar a representative from UNHCR, a global organization working to protect the rights of refugees all over the world, she addressed the delegates and spoke about its efforts and encouraged the delegates to work with courage and humility and in a true spirit of solidarity, putting the goal of the common good before the national and individual consideration in order to succeed in protecting the rights of displaced people.

The Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony, Shri Kanishk Sharma, IFS Passport Officer, congratulated all the winners. He addressed the MUN participants and underlined the fact that difficulties and challenges are inevitable. He also expressed his appreciation for the work of the MUN Secretariat, and it is due to their hard work and dedication that such a successful and smoothly conducted event could be organised. He told the students that handling any crisis is never easy, but with dialogue and diplomacy, most of the world’s problems could be solved.

The Chairman of the school, Mr. Sarvesh Goel applauded the students for conducting the event in such a smooth manner and coming up with such deep insights into the world issues discussed in the various committees. He said in his address that the world is a global village and the events taking place in any part of the world impact is felt by other countries. He stressed upon the importance of accumulating knowledge and education from all possible sources to solve world problems.

The Secretary-General, Abhimanyu Srivastava, in his speech expressed his gratitude towards all his teammates. He also mentioned participating in MUNs gave him an opportunity to deliberate his views on international politics on a platform where he could allow his voice to be heard by the people of the community which will eventually help the present and future generations as well.

The event concluded with the award ceremony. A short cultural programme was presented before the audience. The culmination of the event was with a socials where all the participants enjoyed themselves with dancing.
