GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL CELEBRATED ‘NATIONAL POLLUTION PREVENTION DAY’

India observes National Pollution Prevention Day on December 2 in memory of people who lost their lives in the Bhopal gas disaster.

The theme of National Pollution Control Day 2021 is – to educate people about the importance of pollution control. Students at GD Goenka Public School participated at all levels in different activities planned for them from classes III to XI. Various activities such as Poster making, Collage making, Paragraph writing, Poem writing, Slogan writing, and Newspaper designing were conducted in different segments of the school. Through all the above, the students created awareness to reduce pollution and make a better World of Clean Environments. As their slogan says “A pollution-free environment is very necessary for people to do all the tasks in a better way and to remain disease-free. Without Pollution, the Environment is very useful to keep the people to get their tasks completed in a better way.”

 

Children of Pre-Nursery and Nursery did a sorting exercise that involved the segregation of pictures of things that are beneficial for the earth and those that are not, in the appropriate category. Students of K.G. also did a similar activity in which they had to segregate flashcards that had pictures of the land, air, and water pollution. Teachers also explained the various ways to control and reduce pollution from our environment. Grade I students experimented on modeling pollution uptake by plants by a flower stem which made them aware of water pollution and how harmful it is for living beings. Grade II students did an informative worksheet on Three R i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

 

Students of classes III and V made colorful Posters and Collages explaining various ways of controlling pollution. An interactive session was organized between the students of Class IV and student representatives from class V.Naisha Kalra, Varnika Pandey and Revant Bhattacharjee took the leadas climate campaigners and explained the role their juniors need to playing controlling pollution. Pictures of rivers, lakes, sea, forest, etc were shown and students’ views on how they perceive their future to look were taken.

 

The objective behind the interactive session was to educate the students about the importance of pollution control, the necessary preventive measures, and to adopt an environmentally friendly and low carbon footprint life Class VI wrote a paragraph on the topic “Impact of pollution on health” whereas class VII recited poems on “Pollution” enthusiastically in the class.

 

Class IX participated in the poster-making activity and Class XI did Newspaper designing. Students in their presentation tried to cultivate a better attitude towards reducing pollution from the environment in various ways and spread awareness on managing and controlling the pollution produced by industrial processes or human negligence. All the students pledged to recycle empty plastic bottles and cans and to help make a difference by planting more trees and protecting them.

Students understood that it is necessary to control pollution and it is not only the Government’s duty, we should also participate and make the environment clean as a clean environment helps people to do their tasks in a better way and live life happily.

The day concluded with the message from our respected principal Ms. Raveen Pande, who further encouraged the students to understand the importance of preserving natural resources and discouraging further depletion of the environment.
