GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, recently organised an insightful and well-structured parents’ orientation workshop aimed at strengthening board examination preparation for students of Classes X and XII. The session was designed to create a strong partnership between parents, students, and the school, ensuring that learners are well-prepared academically, emotionally, and mentally for the upcoming board examinations.

The workshop was conducted by the school’s Principal, Dr Prerna Mitra, who addressed both students and parents with clarity and confidence. She began by explaining the concept of the two-board-paper system and elaborated on the examination pattern, marking scheme, and evaluation criteria. The session helped parents gain a clear understanding of how board examinations are structured and how students can maximise their performance through strategic preparation.

A key focus of the workshop was effective time management and disciplined study habits. Dr Mitra shared practical and easy-to-follow strategies that students can incorporate into their daily routines. Emphasis was laid on the importance of regular study schedules, consistent revision, and continuous practice. Parents were encouraged to create a supportive home environment that promotes concentration, discipline, and positivity during the preparation phase.

The session also highlighted the significance of solving previous years’ question papers and model papers. Students were guided on how to analyse question patterns, manage time during examinations, and attempt answers systematically. Parents were advised on how to monitor progress without creating unnecessary pressure, ensuring that learning remains productive rather than stressful.

Another important aspect discussed during the workshop was managing exam-related stress and anxiety. Dr Mitra stressed that physical and mental well-being plays a crucial role in academic success. Parents and students were encouraged to prioritise proper sleep, balanced nutrition, and regular physical activity. Techniques to maintain emotional balance and stay motivated during exam preparation were also shared.

Students were additionally guided on the importance of reviewing their answer sheets carefully after examinations. Dr Mitra explained how reflection and self-assessment help students identify strengths and areas that need improvement, thereby enabling better performance in subsequent assessments.

The workshop also showcased the school’s robust academic support system designed to help students cope with board exam pressure. This includes regular counselling sessions, structured study groups, access to online learning resources, frequent interactions with subject teachers, and active parental involvement. The school’s health and wellness programmes were highlighted as an integral part of holistic student development.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, where parents openly shared their concerns and queries. Dr Mitra addressed each question in detail, reassuring parents that with disciplined preparation, strong guidance, and consistent support, students can approach board examinations with confidence and clarity.

Reiterating her message, Dr Mitra emphasised that board exams are not merely a test of academic knowledge but also an opportunity to develop resilience, responsibility, and self-belief. She encouraged parents to remain patient, supportive, and encouraging throughout the examination journey.

The parents’ orientation workshop at GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, successfully reinforced the school’s commitment to academic excellence and student well-being. By fostering collaboration between parents, teachers, and students, the initiative played a vital role in preparing learners to face board examinations confidently and achieve success.
