26th January, a very important day for India which is celebrated all over the country with gaiety, pomp, and show, has a great significance in the history of Freedom Struggle. On 25th January 2016, at G.D. Goenka Public School, that is also the best school in Lucknow CBSE board, a small celebration took place in context to Republic Day. A Special Assembly was conducted by the Tiny Goenkans where the little ones from every class stood up on the stage dressed as a Freedom Fighter/National leader and spoke a few lines about them.
They were told about the significance and sanctity of this festival, by sharing some facts related to India. Later on, they were told as to what the Constitution is, why is it important to have a constitution and why 26th January was declared as Republic Day. There was a small quiz regarding the National Symbols which turned out to be very exciting, followed by a dance performance by a grade 1 child. Last but not the least, in the class children, were shown a Powerpoint presentation on Freedom fighters along with an animated movie on Freedom struggle. The day ended by making and coloring the National Flag by our little soldiers and carrying it home as a symbol of Patriotism. Republic Day at G. D. Goenka Public School, Lucknow
