“Holi is the festival of colours, joy, and togetherness — a time to spread happiness and celebrate the victory of good over evil.”
Holi was celebrated in G D Goenka Public School with great enthusiasm and excitement on 06th March in all classes. The celebration aimed to help children understand the cultural significance of Holi, the story behind the festival and the importance of celebrating it in a safe and eco-friendly manner.
The celebration began with a Holi act where teachers narrated the story of Holika Dahan and Prahlad, explaining the message of truth, faith and the victory of good over evil. The assembly became even more vibrant when teachers performed a lively dance on a cheerful Holi song, spreading festive energy and joy all around. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching their teachers and enthusiastically clapped along.
A festive set-up was arranged in the OAP area, where children happily participated in Phoolon ki Holi. They played with flower petals, sharing smiles and laughter with their friends, making the celebration colourful, joyful and safe.
Following this, class-wise activities were conducted to make the learning experience creative and meaningful. Toddler children participated in Phoolon ki Holi and made a pichkari craft. Nursery children created colourful Holi splash goggles using paints and also made masks of it. LKG students made and decorated pichkari and balti crafts with bright colours. UKG children designed a 3D pichkari using paper and decorative materials. Grade I students engaged in a group craft activity depicting Holika Dahan, where they created handprint flames on chart paper and added paper logs to complete the bonfire scene. Grade II students designed beautiful Holi cards using expressing their creativity with vibrant colours.
The entire celebration was a delightful blend of learning, culture, fun, and creativity. Through stories, dance, hands-on activities, and joyful participation, children not only enjoyed the festival but also understood its true message- celebrating with love, positivity and togetherness while respecting nature and traditions.
