Books play a significant role in our lives. It is rightly said, “When you open a book, you open a new world.” To nurture and encourage the habit of reading among students, GD Goenka Public School Lucknow, organized a Scholastic Book Fair from 23 July to 25 July 2026 in the school premises.

The Book Fair was formally inaugurated by the Principal, who encouraged students to cultivate the habit of reading and explore the wonderful world of books. In her address, she emphasized the importance of reading in enhancing knowledge, imagination, creativity, and lifelong learning.

The fair showcased a vast collection of books, catering to different age groups and interests. Students enthusiastically visited the book stalls and explored a wide variety of titles, including fiction, non-fiction, encyclopedias, biographies, activity books, personality development books, hobby books, poetry collections, science books, mysteries, puzzles, and many more.

The response to the fair was overwhelming. Students eagerly selected books of their choice, while parents also visited the fair during the Parent-Teacher Meeting and appreciated the initiative. The ‘Fiction Section’ emerged as the most popular corner among the children, while reference books and encyclopedias also attracted considerable attention.

Another major attraction of the Book Fair was the Lucky Draw Contest, which created great excitement among the students. The lucky draw winner was Vansh Vaibhav Singh of class IV-D. The winners were delighted to receive special prizes and recognition.

The Classroom Challenge was another highlight of the event. Classes competed to achieve the highest participation in book purchases. The class with the maximum number of students purchasing books was awarded a Gift Hamper as a token of appreciation and encouragement. This friendly competition motivated students to visit the fair, explore new books, and develop a greater interest in reading. Class V-Cambridge Section won the classroom challenge.

The whole fair buzzed with enthusiasm as students and parents explored the world of books together. The event successfully created a vibrant literary atmosphere in the school and inspired students to develop a lifelong love for reading. Such initiatives play a vital role in broadening knowledge, enhancing imagination, and fostering the joy of learning.
