GD Goenka Public School celebrated Basant Panchami and Republic Day together on 23rd January 2026, creating a vibrant atmosphere of joy, patriotism, and cultural spirit. The campus was adorned with yellow flowers and tricolour decorations, reflecting the themes of knowledge, spring, and national pride. The day began with a special assembly led by UKG students, which included the singing of the National Anthem and the National Song. Students from Toddler to Grade 2 came dressed in cheerful yellow attire, with some also opting to wear outfits inspired by freedom fighters and community helpers, beautifully blending the two occasions.
Throughout the day, students engaged in creative and meaningful activities that combined elements of both celebrations. Toddler and Nursery children made colourful paper-folding kites for Basant Panchami while also creating tricolour flowers using play-doh in honour of Republic Day. They also watched an engaging Republic Day story. LKG students crafted beautiful greeting cards featuring Goddess Saraswati with her veena, learning about wisdom and knowledge, and also made tricolour bookmarks as a tribute to the nation.
UKG and Grade 1 students expressed their creativity by making bright decorative kites for Basant Panchami and crafting tricolour fans for Republic Day, with UKG students also leading the special morning assembly. Grade 2 students participated in a short story narration explaining the significance of Basant Panchami as the arrival of spring and also completed a thoughtful worksheet related to Republic Day and the Constitution of India.
Teachers guided the children in understanding the significance of both occasions—the worship of Goddess Saraswati representing knowledge and creativity, and the importance of Republic Day symbolising unity and constitutional values. Classrooms were decorated with yellow flowers, kites, and tricolour displays, creating a lively and joyful learning environment.
The celebration was a harmonious blend of cultural and national values, providing students with a deeper understanding of creativity, knowledge, unity, and constitutional pride. The enthusiastic participation, bright smiles, and joyful learning made the day truly memorable for everyone. The event successfully showcased how cultural festivals and national observances can complement each other, fostering holistic development and awareness among young learners.
The dual celebration served as a perfect example of how education extends beyond textbooks, nurturing both cultural roots and national identity in the leaders of tomorrow.
