GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow celebrates with pride the 77th Independence Day:-
‘AZAADI KA MAHAPARV – NATION FIRST’
As a part of the glorious ongoing ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ – 77th Independence Day Celebration on the completion of 75 years of Independence of India, GD Goenka Public School celebrated the 77th Independence Day with patriotic zest and fervour on 15 August 2023. Students of GD. Goenka Public School, Lucknow showcased their affection and respect through a cultural programme. The occasion was graced with the presence of the Chief Guest, Maj Gen Amit Devgan, Commandant, officers Training College, Army Medical Corp Centre & College at Lucknow. The Guest of Honour was Dr Anupama Chowdhury MBBS, MD, DNBE. At present, she is a human physiology teacher for MBBS students.
Hon’ble Major General Amit Devgan raised and unfurled the flag on the school premises followed by the school March passed by the houses (Tagore, Teresa, Radhakrishnan, and Vivekananda) followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
After the unfurling of the national flag, the Student Council contingent headed by the Head Boy, Yuvraj Singh and students from classes VI-XII marched to the beats of the drum which set the mood right for the event.
A medley of harmonious patriotic songs rendered by the School Choir rekindled the patriotic spirit and touched everyone’s heart.
The Principal, Dr. Prerna Mitra welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of honour, Chairman Mr. Sarvesh Goel, Ms. Lalita Goel, and other dignitaries present on the occasion. She addressed the audience and the students and told them about the importance of our independence and to realize the significance of the day and remember the struggle of numerous freedom fighters who have contributed to the independence struggle.
She congratulated the students who participated in the march past for their spectacular and in-sync marching. The Principal shared her strong conviction that all the office-bearers would be custodians of the school’s special ethos and prove worthy of carrying this lofty responsibility to fruition.
The Indian Bravehearts, their stories of valour, patriotism, and sacrifice during the Indian freedom struggle can never be forgotten, they instill a sense of pride in us. An inter-House Dance and Speech rendition by the Students from classes VI-XII mesmerized the audience and reminded them of stories of their courage and role in the freedom struggle.
After the Cultural Programme, the Chief Guest addressed the audience and congratulated everyone present on the occasion of the completion of 77 years of independence. He said that we all are lucky and privileged to be able to live in a country with such diverse cultures and traditions. He congratulated the students for their immaculate drill and extended his greetings to the school management, Principal, staff, and students. He also commended the Chairman, Mr. Sarvesh Goel for his service to humanity through his vision in the form of an institution like GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow. He urged the students to be more active on the field, play physical sports than online games, cut screen time, and make real friends than virtual friends to have practical experience of the realities of life.
Chairman of the school Mr. Sarvesh Goel, while addressing the audience, told how our freedom fighters had initially thought of achieving freedom and executed their plans through grit and determination. In his speech, he asked the students to dream beyond the sky as they hold the potential to achieve greater things. Indeed it was a day of joy, a day of love, and respect for our motherland.
A memento was presented to the Chief Guest, Major Gen Amit Devgan, by the Chairman and the Principal.
The ceremony drew to a close with the Vote of Thanks delivered by school Cultural Captain Anuvrinda Anand.
