The much-awaited GDGPS Sports Fest 2025 commenced today, 18th August 2025, at GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow. The four-day fest, scheduled from 18th to 21st August 2025, will witness spirited competitions in various sports including Chess, Swimming, Football, and Basketball, with participation from over 26 schools across Lucknow.
The Opening Ceremony was graced by the distinguished Chief Guest, Shri Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, IAS, and a world-class para-badminton athlete. He holds the rare distinction of being the first IAS officer to win a Paralympic medal, securing Silver medals in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympics. He is also the 2024 Para World Champion and World No. 1 in the SL4 category. A graduate of NIT Surathkal, he continues to inspire with his extraordinary balance of public service and sporting excellence.
The program opened with lighting of the lamp followed with vibrant cultural performances that filled the atmosphere with enthusiasm and pride. Highlights included a patriotic song, a dance drama, and a solo dance performance by Adrika Singh of Class 3B, all of which added grace and energy to the occasion.
The Chairman of the school Shri Sarvesh Goel presented a planter to the chief guest as a token of gratitude. The Principal of the school Dr Prerna Mitra welcomed all the student delegates from different schools and gave her best wishes for putting up competitive performances.
The presence of Shri Suhas L.Y. along with the participation of enthusiastic students from across the city, set a spirited tone for the fest. The event truly embodied the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and inspiration, marking a memorable beginning to the GDGPS Sports Fest 2025.
