FUN & EXCITEMENT MARK THE ANNUAL SPORTS DAY ‘SPORT-A-THON’ OF GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL:-
YOUNG GOENKANS OF CLASSES PRE-NURSERY TO TWO DISPLAYED THEIR SPORTING SKILLS
On 18th December 2022, GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow celebrated its Annual Sports day ‘Sport-a-Thon’ of the pre-primary section with great enthusiasm. The chief guest of the program was the Hon’ble Sports & Youth Affairs Minister of the Uttar Pradesh Government, Shri Girish Chandra Yadav, who inaugurated the ceremony with a torch-bearing ritual with the young students of our school. The Chief Guest also released the balloons in the air to mark the commencement of the programme. The excitement and enthusiasm were clearly visible in everyone’s eyes. Students prepared various drills and races for the event. The event was conducted on the playground of the school.
Sports is a need to inculcate the sporting spirit in children, it is an integral part of every student’s life. This helps the children to explore their hidden sports interests as they enjoy healthy competition with each other.
The event began with a wonderful opening dance by the talented students of K.G. and grades 1 and 2. It was then followed by various drills and races. Parents were equally involved with their wards in the races, for participation and motivation. The youngest ones, students of class toddlers took part in a tricycle race. Students of Pre Nursery were a part of ‘The Butterfly and Flower Race’ and ‘The Carrot Race’. Students of Pre Nursery from the Mahanagar branch were a part of ‘The Healthy Sandwich Race”. Students of class Nursery were thrilled to be a part of ‘The Ice-Cream Race’ and ‘The Obstacle Race’. Students of K.G. (Mahanagar branch) were a part of ‘Conquering the Obstacles Race’. Students of K.G. were overjoyed to take part in ‘The Jumping Jack Race’, ‘The Bean Bag and Cone Balancing Race’, and ‘The Super Saucer Race’ along with their parents. Parents of Grade 1 students along with Mahanagar branch students thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Balloon Race’, ‘The Balancing Bean Bag Race’, and ‘The Stand Tall Race’. Grade 2 students were delighted to be a part of ‘The Potato Race’ which put laughter on everyone’s faces. They remarkably completed ‘The Obstacle Race’ and ‘The Birthday Blast Race’ and were proud of it. Parents and students of Grades 3 and 4 of the Mahanagar branch were delighted to be a part of ‘The Counterpoise Balloons Race’ and they enjoyed it to their heart’s content.
Nursery children brilliantly put up a starry performance in the ‘Stars of the Ring Drill’ and left everyone speechless. Grades 1 and 2 students amazed the audience with their wonderful spectacle of ‘The Fan Drill’. Students of the Mahanagar branch performed a lively drill ‘The Fitness Frenzy’ which filled the air with high spirits. The audience couldn’t stop praising the solo performances of singing by Agastya Dixit of II A and Vibhu Pandey of K.G. B. They really enjoyed the melodious choir and were astonished to watch the performance by our little pianists Darsh Bhargava of II B and Akshdeep Gupta of II C. Students who won various medals for extracurricular activities were felicitated by the Chief Guest. Followed by it, was the prize distribution ceremony for the races where the winners were given the prizes by the Chief Guest, Chairman, and Principal. On this occasion, Chief Guest Shri Girish Chandra Yadav addressed the audience with his motivating words and encouraged everyone to make sports a crucial part of their routine. He praised GD Goenka School for providing excellent guidance and infrastructure to the students. He said that both sports and studies are an integral part of life. Depicting the importance of sports, he said that intellectual talent and courage are developed in us through sports. He also discussed the various schemes of government to promote the players and culture of sports in the country. The Chairman of the school Shri Sarvesh Goel also addressed the gathering and proudly spoke about the various achievements of the school. He said that the performance of our school has been excellent in both studies and sports. The CBSE Prayagraj Zone Class X board 1st and 2nd rank holders are from our school. This year we have organised many grand sports events in our school like CBSE Mini Olympiad, CBSE Clusters, Zonal and National level sports competitions, ‘Lucknow Run’ Half Marathon, etc., and have won also in most of the major tournaments. Mr. Goel informed all the parents that this year we have included NCC in the curriculum along with registering students in Scouts and Guides. We are also going to start Cambridge Board in the coming session. In the end, he thanked the students, teachers, and parents for their unwavering support in the progress of the school.
The event concluded with a gala performance where all the participants came together for the grand finale which took everyone by surprise. The Principal Dr. Prerna Mitra appreciated the efforts of the staff and teachers for putting up such a nice and well-coordinated show.
What a lovely, enjoyable, and energetic winter afternoon it was! All parents captured these moments in their cameras and minds to cherish for a lifetime.
