GD GOENKA SCHOOL STUDENTS ATTEND COUNSELLING SESSIONS CONDUCTED BY DR AMRITA DASS:-
A highly informative Career Counselling session was conducted for the parents of class X students appearing for the board exams, by the Institute of Career Studies (ICS) at GD Goenka Public School, Shaheed Path, Lucknow, on February 1, 2025. The session aimed at guiding the class X students, who are set to choose their streams between Science, Commerce, and Humanities for the upcoming academic year.
The session was graced by the distinguished guest speaker, Dr. Amrita Das, along with her team of experts. Dr. Das provided valuable insights into the various career options available across all streams, stressing that the right stream selection plays a crucial role in shaping one’s future career. The speaker emphasized that students must explore their interests and aptitudes before making this important decision.
One of the key highlights of the session was the discussion on use of technology in our daily life to make the functioning of every day smoother and better. She told that the quantam leaps that technology is taking today is impacting the Education and career. Dr. Amrita Das focused on the requirement of more and more number of students choosing interdisciplinary subjects. Dr. Das laid stress on the need of psychometric and aptitude tests to identify the key intersts of students. Dr. Das explained how these scientific assessments can provide a deeper understanding of a student’s strengths, weaknesses, and interests, thus helping them select the subjects best suited to their abilities. This was followed by an interactive session where parents were encouraged to ask questions and seek guidance on career paths that align with their ward’s skills and passions.
The school’s Principal , Dr. Prerna Mitra, also shared her thoughts on the importance of self-awareness in making informed decisions. She emphasized the need for students to recognize their core interests, which will ultimately guide them in choosing the right subjects for senior secondary education. Dr. Mitra of the concluded the session by reiterating that career choices should be driven by individual interests rather than external pressures.
The session, held in the school’s auditorium, was well-received by both students and parents. It provided the students with crucial insights into making informed choices about their future academic and career paths, thereby helping them prepare for the challenges ahead.
