GD Goenka Students Enthusiastically Celebrate the Festival of Dussehra in Virtual Form:-
Dussehra is a popular Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. It marks the day on which Lord Rama defeated the demon king Ravana. The celebration is to remember that the good and holy always wins over evil. This time our little Goenkans celebrated virtual Dussehra during their online classes on 23 October 2020. The story as to why we celebrate Dussehra was shown to students through a video and a PowerPoint Presentation. The importance and rituals of celebrating this festival were explained in detail by all the teachers. The students also enjoyed listening to the Dussehra song sung by their favourite cartoon character Chhota Bheem. The tiny ones of Pre- Nursery till Grade II participated and enjoyed different activities. Children also made Dussehra craft with great enthusiasm.
Students of Pre- Nursery to K.G. made cut-outs of Ravana with waste paper. Students of Class, I drew a picture of Ravana and colored it. Teachers also encouraged the students to speak about one such habit they promise to elude. Students promised and wrote about one of their habits which they will shun and how they will do it. Teachers showed a PowerPoint presentation on Dussehra to students of Class II and explained the significance of the festival. Students participated in a quiz activity through an online worksheet. Students also drew a picture of Goddess Durga’s face and colored it beautifully.
This Virtual Dussehra celebration was informative for the children. It indeed was a day filled with much excitement.
