GD Goenka Public School, Mahanagar, recently celebrated Grandparents’ Day with an event that radiated love, respect, and nostalgia. With the theme “Journey through Generations,” the event honored the invaluable roles grandparents play in children’s lives, bridging the past with the present. Grandparents of students from toddlers to Class IV attended, enjoying a meticulously organized program filled with cultural vibrancy.
The celebration began with a warm welcome to the grandparents, who were honored with traditional attire representing various Indian states. The event’s theme was brought to life through a series of engaging performances by students. A captivating enactment of Ramayana scenes introduced the audience to the cultural richness passed down through generations. Performances such as “Lakdi ki Kathi” and “Ichak Dana” added a touch of nostalgia, while timeless classics like “Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche” brought smiles to every face.
Chief Guest Sanyukta Bhatia, in her address, highlighted the essence of family values and the pivotal role grandparents play in imparting moral values to young generations. Students also performed a special role-play that depicted the important roles grandparents play in children’s lives, from storytelling to teaching life lessons. The young actors skillfully portrayed scenarios where grandparents demonstrated love, support, and guidance, leaving the audience moved and proud.
At the end of the event, the school presented tokens of appreciation to the grandparents as a gesture of respect for their contributions to the family and community. Director of the school, Neha Goel, expressed her gratitude to the grandparents, acknowledging their role in shaping future generations. Headmistress Shaily Dawra added that grandparents are the torchbearers of moral values, which are passed down as a legacy.
