GD Goenka Public School, Sushant Golf City, Lucknow hosted the 10th edition of its much-anticipated Dandiya Night as a part of the school’s Navratri celebrations. The event aimed to celebrate the rich cultural tradition of Dandiya Raas and Garba, promoting community spirit and togetherness among students, teachers, parents and staff.
Dandiya Night is one of most popular and awaited events held at GD Goenka Public School every year. To mark the festivities of ‘Navratri’, the school premises was throbbed with the beats of the foot-tapping music and dance. The whole environment was abuzz with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Not only the Goenkans, but people from all over the city actively participated in the event, decked up in vibrant ethnic attires, which made for a spectacular visual treat for everyone to relish.
The spacious school ground was transformed into a lively celebration space with traditional and colourful decorations. The venue was adorned with strings of lights, rangoli patterns, marigold flowers, and ethnic drapery, creating a festive and joyful ambiance. A large stage was set up for the live band. DJ Viola Petrenko, the dynamic talent from Ukraine, seamlessly blended the traditional garba and dandiya beats with Bollywood chartbusters, turning the entire house into electrifying performances.
The evening welcomed dignitaries from different walks of life. Many senior bureaucrats, dignitaries and eminent personalities of the cityattended the dandiya night as special guests.
The event commenced at 06:30 PM with the ‘pooja’ and ‘aarti’ of AmbeMaa performed by the guests along with the Chairman of the school SarveshGoel, LalitaGoel, Principal Dr Prerna Mitra and the Vice-Principal, Sonia Mathai.
The highlight of the night was the DandiyaRaas and Garba performances, which began shortly after the inauguration. Participants, dressed in traditional attire, showcased their dance skills while moving in perfect synchrony to the music. The traditional ghagras, kediyus, cholis, and bandhanis added to the festive flair, with bright colours and intricate designs making the night even more visually spectacular.The event was attended by more than 4000 people
Lots of exciting prizes were won in Lucky Draw and various titles such as, Best Dressed Male & Female, Best Dancer Male & Female, Most Energetic Dancer, Best Dancing Group, Best Dressed Family, Best Dressed Kid and Dandiya King & Queen. The winners received the prizes from Chairman of GD Goenka Public school SarveshGoel.
The energy exuberating out of the colourful attires, the delectable eatables and the enthusiasm of all the dancers and performers portrayed a perfect atmosphere of euphoria and gaiety.
The Dandiya Night indeed turned out to be a huge success with yet another season of entertainment and enjoyment. With a riot of colours and an eclectic mix of music, the celebration left everyone with cherished memories of an evening well-spent.
