“Diwali- A Festival of Light, Hope and Goodness”

Diwali – the festival of gleaming diyas, holy chants, auspicious beginnings, mithais, and gathering of family and friends was celebrated by the Pre-primary children of Best CBSE GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow with joy and enthusiasm on 2 November 2021. The celebrations started with children remembering goddess Lakshmi to shower her blessings upon them.

A video, highlighting the importance of the festival was shown to the students. The students of class Pre-Nursery to Grade 2 made beautiful lantern crafts, decorated earthen diyas, and made edible diyas with fruits and vegetable cutouts. Children were encouraged to donate and share their belongings like clothes, sweets, toys with needy people. They were asked to keep their surroundings clean and help their family members in cleaning the home for Diwali. Students of grades 1 and 2 spoke on topics like ‘How to share happiness with needy people this Diwali’ and ‘Green and Noise Free Diwali’. From eco-friendly celebrations and decorations to not bursting firecrackers, it was overwhelming to see our little ones speak so confidently and passionately.

Children learned that the festival signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. While enjoying the festival wholeheartedly, young Goenkans, led the way in spreading the message of celebrating safe and pollution-free Eco-Friendly Diwali.
