GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL SALUTES THE MEDICAL FRATERNITY ON NATIONAL DOCTOR’S DAY:-
Doctor’s Day celebrates the doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving the people by risking their lives. In order to salute the never-ending spirit of our healthcare providers, GD Goenka Public School celebrated Doctor’s Day. The day was celebrated to create awareness among the students about the invaluable contribution of the physicians towards serving mankind. The day was also observed to honour legendary physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy who was born on July 1, 1882.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its deadly second wave have once again reminded us of the role of physicians and doctors and their sacrifice and contributions. Working round-the-clock shifts and putting their own health in danger, this day gives a perfect opportunity to salute their work. Our Goenkans celebrated National Doctor’s Day in their online classes. Teachers discussed with the children the role of doctors as superheroes during the pandemic and showed videos on how the doctors dedicate their whole life to caring and treating us. The students of the Pre-Primary section used simple items available at their homes to dress up as doctors and paid a tribute to our superheroes and gave special “Thanks” to all our doctors for their sacrifice and compassionate service during this pandemic. Students of Primary, Junior, and Senior Section invited few doctor parents in their respective classes. They had an enriching session in the class wherein the doctors shared their experiences, talked about mental and physical health and how to stay positive during this time. Students asked their queries, interacted with the doctors, and also answered the questions put up by them. It was a wonderful experience for the students. Doctors have proved to be the true warriors who have saved the people in the world’s pandemic, risking their own lives.
The students put together a presentation extolling the contribution of Doctor’s during the pandemic, the challenges faced by them, the sacrifices they make and the risks they take: be it the risk of infection, the risk of physical harm by misdirected ire of grieving families or the sheer physical and emotional stress they encounter while discharging duties of their noble profession. The presentation ended with a glowing, poetic tribute to the doctors by Surabhi Agarwal. The students who put together the presentation were: Jyoti Kumari, Arqam Siddiqui, Anushka Krishna, Adarsh Singh, Kainat Khan and Vaishnavi Mishra. The Principal, Ms. Raveen Pande, the force that inspired the students to express their gratitude and appreciation for the doctor’s, thanked the medical fraternity for their
service and selflessness.
It was indeed a wonderful day that was observed with a spirit of thankfulness and gratitude.
