Earth Day:
Earth Day began on April 22, 1970, and has been an important day ever since. it’s a day to reflect on our planet, our environment and what we can do to help them keep healthy. Children have the most important stake in keeping our planet healthy. To enhance the knowledge of the children in ways of protecting and saving our planet Earth, Earth Day was celebrated in G.D. Goenka Public School on 20th April.
How to Save Earth:
Various activities were planned in order to impart the knowledge in a fun learning way. Classes Pre-Nursery to Grade II did balloon printing of Earth and made their individual cards writing their Earth day promise of keeping our blue planet happy. Videos depicting what causes harm to our planet were shown to the children and emphasizing how we should avoid doing such things as throwing waste in rivers, wasting water, by cutting down trees etc. Children were apprised about the Three R’s:- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and how effectively we can bring small changes in our lifestyle and contribute big time in saving our Earth.
At the end of the day, our children pledged to take care of the planet. The Earth day is not one day of celebration but instead a reminder of what we should be doing every day. Save Earth Save Life!
