GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATION AT GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL LUCKNOW:-
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”-Mahatma Gandhi
Gandhi Jayanti Celebration is the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as the ‘Father of the Nation’, who was the pioneer of truth and non-violence. It is celebrated all over India as a tribute to him.
To mark the celebration of the birth anniversary of the man who spun the wheel of fortune, a dedicated chain of events was organised in GD Goenka Public School Lucknow on 30 September 2023. The day began with a special assembly in which teachings and sacrifices of Gandhi ji were presented by the Grade 1 students.
Children from Grade Pre-Nursery to Grade 2 did various activities competently on ‘Gandhi Jayanti’. Pre–nursery students made ‘Three Wise Monkeys’ and through this, they learned about the lessons given by the same. Nursery students made iconic spectacles of Mahatma Gandhi. KG students made posters related to Gandhi ji’s principles and they also took the initiative to clean their garden area to be a part of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. Children also learned various life experiences of Bapu like determination, and perseverance, and also got an opportunity to explore the relevance of his ideas in today’s challenges through a presentation.
During the morning assembly, the students of classes III to XII took a solemn pledge to contribute to a cleaner environment. They promised to be responsible citizens and take active steps to reduce pollution and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. This pledge was a meaningful way to connect the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti with the urgent need for environmental stewardship. The celebration not only educated young minds about the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi but also instilled in them a sense of responsibility towards society and the environment.
Gandhi ji left behind a string of quotes and principles that are observed with utmost importance to this day. He led his praise-worthy life, yet he stuck to the ground to achieve the country’s dream of independence. He has left behind a legacy to inspire people and unify in brotherhood.
May the spirit of truth and non-violence always be with us.
