Ganesh Chaturthi, a prominent Hindu festival depicting birth of Lord Ganesha, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion in GD Goenka Public School Lucknow on 27 August 2025. The event aimed to inculcate cultural values, promote unity and provide students with a meaningful experience of India’s rich traditions.
A Special Assembly was organised and beautiful arrangements were made in our school to celebrate the festival with devotion and enthusiasm. An idol of Lord Ganesha was placed which was decorated with flowers, lights, and rangoli. Teachers and students worked together to prepare the decorations and set up the puja area. The students performed a graceful Ganesh Vandana to begin the celebrations. It was a wonderful way to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha at the start of the event. School Principal Dr. Prerna Mitra performed the puja with great reverence, offering flowers, sweets, and prayers to Lord Ganesha, she also told about the relevance of the festival to the children. The atmosphere was filled with devotion as everyone joined in the aarti together.
The students were engaged in various inclusive activities which help them to connect with their cultural heritage, to foster creativity and environmental awareness. Toddler and Nursery children made modaks from play dough. LKG students made Lord Ganesha face mask with a fan folding trunk. UKG students decorated the picture of Lord Ganesha by tearing and pasting colourful paper pieces on it. Grade I students made Ganesh Chaturthi DIY paper craft. Grade II students solved a puzzle worksheet regarding the festival.
The celebration was successful in achieving its objectives. Students not only enjoyed the event but also gained insights into the environmental aspects of festival celebrations. The Ganesh Chaturthi celebration was a joyful and enlightening experience for all. It served as a reminder of the importance of traditions, community bonding, and environmental consciousness.
