GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow recently organised a lively and engaging three-day Book Fair on its campus, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and parents alike. The event, which showcased a vast collection of books, highlighted the school’s continuous efforts to instill the joy of reading and strengthen literary skills among students.
The fair featured an extensive range of books across genres—fiction, non-fiction, biographies, encyclopedias, puzzles, poetry, activity books, and competitive guides. From scientific discoveries to imaginative stories, the stalls catered to the varied interests of young readers. Students eagerly browsed and purchased their favourite titles, making the event a celebration of books and learning.
The fair was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Prerna Mitra, who emphasised the importance of reading in building strong vocabulary, creativity, and critical thinking. She noted that literature is not only a source of knowledge but also a powerful tool for self-expression and imagination.
The fiction section quickly became the most popular spot, while reference books and encyclopedias also drew significant interest. To make the fair interactive, the school organised fun activities such as a book hunt, quizzes, and character recognition games, which kept the students engaged and excited.
Adding to the fun, a lucky draw was conducted, with Nitika Rai of Class IV-D emerging as the winner. Another highlight was the classroom challenge, where Class IV Cambridge Section won a gift hamper of books by purchasing the maximum number of titles.
The event not only promoted reading as an enjoyable habit but also encouraged teamwork, healthy competition, and curiosity. Teachers, parents, and students alike praised the initiative for creating a vibrant learning environment outside the traditional classroom setting.
