GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, observed Mental Health Week with a series of thoughtful and engaging activities designed to promote emotional well-being, mindfulness, and compassion among students. The initiative reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also mental and emotional resilience in its learners.
Students from the foundational stage began their day with a 10-minute meditation and pranayama session, which encouraged calmness, focus, and emotional balance. The soothing start helped young learners manage emotions and cultivate mindfulness as a daily practice.
For Classes III and IV, a poster-making activity on Healthy Eating Habits highlighted the connection between nutrition and mental health. Using creativity and colour, students expressed how wholesome food choices contribute to a healthy mind and body.
Class V students participated in a Gratitude Jar activity, writing heartfelt notes to express thankfulness for parents, teachers, friends, and life’s little joys. This exercise reinforced positivity, empathy, and appreciation.
Middle school students crafted slogans on Mental Health Awareness, spreading powerful messages of hope, balance, and emotional strength. A video session titled Sahyog & Paricharcha – Building Resilience and Mental Well-being in the Digital Age was also organised for senior students, encouraging discussions on emotional intelligence and digital mindfulness.
A signature campaign for Classes IX to XII allowed students to pen messages and affirmations related to emotional wellness, breaking stigma and inspiring open dialogue.
The week concluded with teachers, students, and staff donning green ribbons to symbolise mental health awareness. Principal Dr. Prerna Mitra emphasised the importance of mindfulness, gratitude, and empathy as essential life skills.
