The highly anticipated GDGPS Sports Fest 2025 commenced with grandeur at GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, setting the stage for four days of intense competitions and cultural celebrations. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 26 schools across the city, with students competing in chess, swimming, football, and basketball.
The opening ceremony was graced by Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, IAS, a world-class para-badminton athlete and Paralympic silver medalist at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. Currently ranked World No. 1 and the 2024 Para World Champion in the SL4 category, he continues to inspire with his extraordinary balance of public service and sporting excellence. His presence added prestige and motivation to the event.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by cultural performances that created an atmosphere of pride and celebration. Students presented a patriotic song, a dance drama, and a solo performance by Adrika Singh of Class III-B, all of which were met with loud applause for their creativity and energy.
Chairman Sarvesh Goel welcomed the chief guest with a symbolic planter and expressed gratitude for his inspiring presence. Principal Dr. Prerna Mitra extended a warm welcome to all student delegates and wished them success in their performances, emphasising values of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
