‘A Salute to our Roots’
“Nobody can do for little children what Grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.” —Alex Haley
‘A Salute to our Roots’
‘Grandparents’ Day’ is Celebrated at GD Goenka Public School with Love and vigor. Grandparents are the family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers, and the keepers of tradition. Grandparents are the family’s strongest foundation. Through their special love and care, grandparents keep a family close to heart. To honour them, we at GDGPS, celebrated Grandparents’ Day on 14 October 2023.
Dr Madhu Mati Goel, Lab Director at Medanta Hospital, Lucknow, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the grandparents. She was extremely happy while sharing her childhood experiences and told her grandparents to inculcate the moral values at home like school is doing. Further, our School Chairman Mr. Sarvesh Goel addressed the gathering and reiterated the role of Grandparents in our lives, as grandparents are “The parents of parents, teachers of teachers and friends of friends”. On this occasion, the Principal Dr Prerna Mitra also welcomed all the grandparents and appreciated their efforts in bringing up the new generation.
The event commenced with Naitik Mulya, where the students of Grade II B, shared our values, principles, and beliefs. The students of grades I-B and I Cambridge made a remarkable start with Ganesh Vandana. The little tots of Pre-Nursery A and B came up with gleaming performances and danced to the melodious tunes of songs based on the occasion. The vocalists II A and IB gathered to pay homage to their grandparents. The song and the performance left the audience astounded. Next on stage were the junior-most artists from the Toddlers class, to showcase their dancing talents on the miscellany of songs. Our little Goenkans of Grade KG A, B, and C came up with scintillating performances as they danced to the melodious tunes of songs based on the themes of unity in diversity.
To revive back to the good golden days, the dancers of Grade II D and II Cambridge set the stage on fire with a blend of melodies from a melodies era. The theme gestured to show their special bond with grandparents. Last in the sequence but most important part of the show was accomplished by the learners of Class IC and IIC.
The grandparents also rocked the floor with their dance moves as a surprise performance for their little ones.
The end was just picture-perfect. Grandparents applauded the entertainers of the day and success echoed throughout the establishment. The grandparents appreciated and shared their views on the effort to make a connection between the generations through these events. Grandparents wholeheartedly participated in the programmes organized by the School like the ‘Dress-Up Corner’, ‘Games-corner’, and Fun activities. The artwork of the students was given as mementos to the grandparents. Indeed the 2023 ‘Grandparents’ Day’ was a memorable moment for grandparents and our School.
