GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL CELEBRATES ‘GURUPURAB’:-
Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth of Guru Nanak Sahib & is celebrated with great zeal in India.Our little Goenkans celebrated the 552nd birthday of Sikh Guru Nanak Dev Ji ‘Gurpurab’ on Thursday, 18th November 2021 with great excitement and fervour. The teachers highlighted the teachings of the Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his birthday. Teachers pointed towards an honest and simple life filled with universal brotherhood. Videos on his life and spiritual journey were played for the students which reiterated the message ‘One God’ and the ‘Eternal Truth’. A documentary movie, related to the historical background of Guru Nanak Dev was shown to students.
Students of Pre- nursery & Nursery coloured and decorated the ‘Turban’ of Sardars on a worksheet. K.G. students had a cleanliness drive for their class. They promised to keep their classroom clean. Children practiced keeping their shoes in pairs outside the dance room like in Gurudwara people keep their shoes properly in ‘Joda house’. Grade I and II students drew, coloured, and wrote the name of five K’s – Kada, kesh, kirpan, kahechera, and kangha of Sikhism. They also spoke 2-3 lines on Gurupurab. The teacher organised a quiz game related to the birth story of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Teachers advised the students to follow the principles of the holy Guru and cultivate the values of humanity.
