Informative Session On Waste Management Conducted At GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow:-
GD Goenka Public School, Shaheed Path, Lucknow hosted a session on Waste Management Conducted by Mr. Akshay Gupta (Professor) and Mr. Shreyak (Assistant Professor) from Dr. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) in the School Auditorium on 14 May 2024. The University works in collaboration with the VITO organisation from Belgium.
The topic of the session was: “Impact of Waste Management on Climate Change”. The guest speakers highlighted the impact of Methane emissions on global warming and the measures taken by various countries to reduce Methane emissions. The guest speaker also highlighted the types of landfills and their impact on the environment.
The session also included a description of pathways to Waste Management like Bucket Composting (used in IIT), Vermicomposting, EPR Policy (Extending Producer’s Responsivity), and Biogas plants.
Students of Classes IX and XI attended the session. They found the session highly informative. They pledged to implement viable Waste Management Techniques, starting from their homes.
