Independence Day Celebration at GD Goenka Public School Lucknow:-
Independence Day Celebration holds a special place in the hearts of Indians. The slogan “Sare Jahaan Se Achcha Hindustan Hamara” inspires us to feel patriotic, fostering aspirations for our nation’s prosperous future and celebrating the wonderful years of freedom.
The primary wing of GD Goenka Public School Lucknow celebrated the significance of freedom on 14 August 2023 along with unity, by embracing the patriotic sentiment “Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna, Ab hamare dil mein hai.” A special assembly featured a patriotic performance by class II students on the song “Abhi Mujhe Mein Kahin Baki Hai Thodi Si Zindagi,” filled with love and respect for their nation.
Students from class III took an effort to embody the spirit of some of our esteemed freedom fighters. Each student chose to dress as a particular freedom fighter who played a crucial role in securing our nation’s independence. This performance was followed by a heart-warming and patriotic dance performance by a group of our talented students from classes II A & II Cambridge and from classes IVA, IVD & IV Cambridge.
The assembly concluded with everyone singing the National Anthem. This event ignited patriotism and enthusiasm among the children, fostering a deep love for our country. It also served as a reminder of the tremendous sacrifices made by those who laid down their lives for India’s freedom.
Throughout the day, the students were engaged in different activities. Goenkan Tiny Tots from Toddlers and Pre-Nursery engaged in fingerprint activities and created headgear representing India’s national symbols: the peacock and the tiger. Meanwhile, nursery and kindergarten children crafted Independence Day cards and shared 2-3 lines about “Our country, India.”
Students from Classes 1 and 2 designed bookmarks featuring India’s national symbols and adorned their classroom doors with drawings of the Indian Flag, Peacock, Tiger, Red Fort, and more, all in line with the “Independence Day” theme. Later, their teachers assessed their knowledge about “Our country, India” by posing various questions.
Class-3 students delved into history as they paid homage to India’s valiant freedom fighters through a riveting role play. The young actors donned costumes that replicated the iconic personalities who played pivotal roles in India’s struggle for independence. Class-4 students displayed their artistic flair by participating in a group activity that celebrated Independence Day through a collage. The students demonstrated their creativity by compiling a visual narrative that encapsulated the essence of the freedom struggle. Class-5 students embraced tradition with a modern twist through a Rangoli Making Competition. The vibrant patterns adorned the school grounds, depicting India’s national flag, historic landmarks, and symbols of unity.
The Principal, Dr. Prerna Mitra, expressed delight at the enthusiasm displayed by the students and the effort put into celebrating India’s Independence Day in such diverse and creative ways. She commended the students for their dedication to showcasing their understanding of the nation’s history and their artistic talents.
The event was a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who not only excel academically but also embrace their cultural heritage with pride. The celebrations left an indelible mark on the students, fostering a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and a stronger sense of unity and patriotism among the young minds.
