Inter-School Debate Competition at GD Goenka Public School Lucknow:

La-Victorie 2024 – Eloquence in Action

The inaugural edition of the Inter-School Debate Competition, ‘La-Victorie,’ hosted by GD Goenka Public School on August 29th and 30th, 2024, was a celebration of intellect, eloquence, and spirited dialogue. Over two days, the school transformed into a battleground of ideas, where fifty-five young debaters from nine prestigious schools of Lucknow grappled with some of the most pressing and controversial issues of our time.

The competition was structured around four major themes: Political, Historical, Economical, and Social. These topics—ranging from the ethical implications of bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the role of economic sanctions in global conflicts and the glorification of mental health in society— pushed the debaters to their intellectual limits, demanding not only well-reasoned arguments but also a deep sense of empathy and understanding.

The judges, who were a diverse panel of esteemed individuals including professors, journalists, UN professionals, parliamentarians, advocates, political activists, and exceptional college students, provided invaluable feedback, elevating the competition’s standard.

The Principal delivered a speech that encapsulated the essence of ‘La-Victorie’ and praised the participants for their dedication and eloquence. The distribution of awards followed, honoring the best performances both for and against each theme.

The ceremony also featured cultural events, showcasing the school’s vibrant talent, and an open mic session that allowed participants and audience members alike to share their thoughts, poems, and stories. The grand finale was a lively musical performance by the school band, which left everyone in high spirits and brought ‘La-Victorie’ to a resounding close.

‘La-Victorie’ was not just a debate competition; it was a forum where young minds were encouraged to challenge the status quo, think critically, and voice their opinions on matters of global significance. It was a triumph of thought and discourse, and a testament to the power of youth in shaping the future.
