“Table manners are not about perfection, but about showing respect and grace at every meal.”
GD Goenka Public School organized an engaging and educative Table Manners Activity on 29th October 2025 for students from Toddler to Grade II. The activity aimed to cultivate dining etiquette, self-discipline, and social courtesy among young learners through a joyful and interactive learning experience. It was thoughtfully arranged to resemble a fine dining setup, where teachers demonstrated the correct use of table settings.
The little ones from the Toddler class brought halwa in their tiffins along with a spoon and napkin. They were guided on how to eat properly and neatly using a spoon. The Nursery and LKG students brought bread with butter or jam and a butter knife. With great enthusiasm, they learned to spread butter or jam evenly on their bread, enjoying a delightful hands-on experience. The UKG children brought a banana along with a child-safe knife, fork, and napkin. Teachers demonstrated how to cut and eat it properly, emphasizing neatness and table grace. The Grade I and II students brought French toast or cutlets along with a child-safe knife, fork, and napkin. They were taught how to cut and eat their food with poise and good manners, reflecting proper dining decorum.
The session was filled with excitement and curiosity as students eagerly participated in each activity. It proved to be a wonderful blend of fun and learning, helping children understand that good table manners are a reflection of respect for food and the people around us. The activity not only enhanced their dining skills but also instilled confidence, elegance, and a sense of social refinement—making it a truly memorable experience for the young Goenkans.
