Mock Training Session:
Mock Training Session of ‘DNA Isolation’ conducted by Gd Goenka Public School Lucknow. With the aim of setting a world record for the maximum number of students conducting a‘DNA Isolation’ experiment simultaneously, the students of G.D. Goenka Public School, Lucknow have pulled up their socks and attended a mock session for the same in the school premises on Thursday, 4th October 2018. This process of DNA Isolation from the banana fruit is a part of the many scientific activities being undertaken during the four day‘India International Science Festival’ to be held in Lucknow from 5th – 8th October, 2018.G.D. Goenka Public School, Lucknow is the chosen venue for this record-breaking effort aiming to be registered in Guinness Book of World Records with approximately 550 students of the school conducting the DNA isolation experiment simultaneously.
Since an attempt of this level requires prior orientation and practice, a ‘Mock Training Session’ was organized in the school on 4th October. Under the able guidance of Dr. Jena and Dr. Rachna Singh and supervision of volunteers from NBRI and Amity University, the students attended this training session. The students were instructed to follow simple protocol and steps of DNA Isolation from a ripened banana. This activity aims at giving a meaningful learning experience to our students and would improve their subject-related knowledge. Students are very enthusiastic to participate in this world record.
