“Sports teach us character, discipline, and the spirit of teamwork. On National Sports Day, let’s celebrate the champions in every child.”
GD Goenka Public School celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2025 with great enthusiasm to mark the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The day began with a special school assembly which included the Sports Pledge, a quiz on sports, and a motivational speech highlighting the importance of fitness, discipline, and teamwork. These activities aim to foster team spirit, enhance gross motor skills, and instill the value of fitness and discipline from an early age. Students were also shown an age-appropriate video to help them understand the significance of National Sports Day and the importance of fitness in daily life.
Later, various sporting activities were conducted for different classes. Each grade participated in a unique race tailored to their developmental stage. Toddlers took part in the Ice Cream Race, balancing a ball on a cone while walking carefully to the finish line. Nursery students enjoyed the Scoop Race, walking steadily while balancing a ball on a scoop. LKG children hopped through the Hoola Hoop Race, while UKG students participated in the Jump with Ball activity, holding a soft ball between their knees as they jumped forward. Grade 1 students focused on control and posture in the Bean Bag Race, balancing the bean bag on their head or hand. Grade 2 students added excitement to the day with the classic Hurdles race.
Students from Classes VI to XII participated in indigenous games such as Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, while Classes III to V enjoyed running and fun races. The celebration created an energetic atmosphere across the campus and concluded with words of appreciation from the Principal, who encouraged students to adopt sports as a way of life.
The event was a wonderful reminder of the joy and spirit that sports bring into our lives, and it encouraged students to stay active, healthy, and spirited.
