Republic day:
Republic Day every year on the 26th of January, from 1950, when the Constitution of India came into force. The students of G.D.Goenka Public school celebrated Republic Day with a special Assembly on 25th January 2018. The tiny-tots from Pre-Nursery came dressed as freedom fighters. Grade 2 students presented a dance performance on the song ‘Mohe-Mohe tu Rang de Basanti’. The melodious music and graceful movements of the dancers was mesmerizing. The students also enjoyed watching a power point presentation on India and its glorious history.
The presentation had slides which showed them the different states, types of food, clothing, dances and traditions. They were also shown the clipping of the Republic Day Parade and important monuments of India. After this,s the children sang a few patriotic songs. Later, in class, they enjoyed their yummy, tri-color sandwiches and made dove shaped badges on which they wrote ‘Proud to be an Indian’ and ‘Jai Hind’. Their faces lit up with joy as they proudly pinned their badges on their uniform and carried it home as a symbol of patriotism.
