GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow came alive with vibrant colours, joy, and cultural spirit as students celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan through engaging and meaningful activities. The celebrations not only upheld the tradition of sibling love but also extended gratitude to the soldiers of the Indian Army, blending festivity with compassion.
For the toddler and nursery groups, the day was filled with delight as they crafted charming rakhis and puja thalis, using colourful materials to express creativity. Their enthusiasm and pride were evident in their smiles. UKG students also participated in rakhi-making, creating intricate designs and joining a fun rakhi relay race that added an athletic twist to the festivities.
Class I students decorated rakhis and tied them to plants, learning about the importance of trees and the symbolic bond between nature and humans—akin to a sibling relationship. Meanwhile, Class II students made rakhi cards adorned with colourful designs and heartfelt messages for their siblings and friends, using art and words to express affection.
The celebrations took a patriotic turn as part of the school’s weekly inter-house activity, where students handcrafted rakhis for soldiers—true protectors of the nation—who often miss festive moments with their families. These lovingly made rakhis were carefully packed and sent to the armed forces as a gesture of respect and gratitude.
Principal Dr. Prerna Mitra praised the initiative, noting that it not only kept the cultural traditions alive but also instilled empathy and appreciation for the sacrifices made by soldiers. The festival became a platform for creative expression, value-based learning, and cultural awareness, reflecting GD Goenka’s holistic educational approach.
With campuses in Shaheed Path and Mahanagar, GD Goenka Public School continues to be recognised as the best CBSE school in Lucknow, offering students opportunities to learn through meaningful experiences that blend academics with life skills.
This year’s Raksha Bandhan celebration proved that at GD Goenka, festivals are more than rituals—they are lessons in love, unity, and gratitude.
