Teacher’s Day Who is the teacher? Are they people who simply come to the class, teach the concept of a subject and leave? Or is there something more to the definition of this profession? I have always had some really good teachers. Therefore, for me, a good teacher is someone who not only knows her subject but is passionate about it but she wants to impart knowledge to children. A teacher’s sole job isn’t to teach but it is also to understand. We spend 15 years of our life in school. Every day, we spend 6 to 7 hours. These individuals are not our educators.

They are, by extension, family. This does not mean a teacher becomes informal. It means a teacher cares about her students. She understands their problem. She listens and provides solutions. She scolds us when we make a mistake because she wants us to be better human beings. A teacher works day and night so that her children excel. A teacher moulds the future of the world, the youth, into able beings. The teacher strives to have a positive impact on the student. A good teacher isn’t necessarily lenient. She is someone who tells you where you have gone wrong so that you can correct it. They are Frank and straightforward. They do not hide the truth because they know it will eventually harm us.

I have been really fortunate to have teachers who are intelligent, passionate, diligent, understanding, caring and straightforward. That is why… I like to call my teachers…. my second mother (or fathers ). For all that my teachers have done and continue to do for me… a big thank you to them!
