Toy Donation Carried by Goenkan Students:-

Toys are children’s words and play is their language. Toy donation carried by Goenkan Students. Charity is a supreme virtue and the great channel through which the mercy of God is passed onto mankind. Keeping the spirit of Service and volunteering for a cause has always been a motto of GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, and to inculcate the great practice of sharing and caring among our young Goenkans at an early age a 4-day event ‘Toy Donation Drive’ was organized for Pre-Primary students.

As it is very rightly said that a toy is a child’s precious possession. If a child is able to part with her /his toy then she/he can give away anything for a noble cause.

Students were made to understand why doing charity or offering donations are an important and integral part of our growing up. Helping needy people through this novel gesture is our duty too and the satisfaction one gets by ‘joy of giving’.

Teachers discussed and emphasized that everybody must practice this noble act of helping the poor throughout their life as “It’s not how much we give but how much love we attach into giving” is important. The students of Pre Primary seemed to be inspired by stories like ‘Giving is Better’, ‘Every Child deserves a Toy’, and ‘Helping others make them happy’.  They learned that a small act of kindness can brighten up someone’s day. The little ambassadors of kindness were ready to demonstrate their generosity and donated their favourite toys for the kids of their age who were less fortunate.

Under the able guidance of our Principal, Ms. Raveen Pande, a Toy Donation Bank was developed for the less fortunate children in the school, and donation boxes in both the branches were placed wherein all the students dropping their used toys but in good conditions along with their handcrafts in a neatly packed bag.

The toys were donated to Motinagar Bal Anathalaya. The kids at the orphanage were overwhelmed to play with the toys. Few younger kids said that they will be using the handmade puppets for storytelling sessions. Our little Goenkans were successful in bringing a smile to the faces of these kids.
