Twin Celebrations at GD Goenka Public School on the Occasion of Valentine’s Day and Basant Panchami:-
“ Life is way better with treats, like our friendship with our teachers, parents, classmates and our helpers.”
Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate gratitude, love, friendship, and the joy of having other people in our lives. It’s a day of flowers, candy, and cards. To understand this day better, GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow celebrated this special day with the children on 14th February, 2023. Children did many different activities for Valentine’s Day.
Pre-nursery students did the “Rescue the Heart” activity in which they took out heart cutouts from the basket with a tweezer. Nursery children did a Heart count and match activity. Students of KG did a Heart to Heart matching activity. In which they match the CVC words with their pictures. They were thrilled to do the activity. Students of Grade I made a card for their loved ones like father, mother, sister, brother, or friend.
Teachers made them aware of the story behind why we celebrate Valentine’s Day. Teachers also explained to the students that they should always be kind to everyone and spread the love around them. Students promised their teachers that they would make this world a better place. Students of Grade II had a speaking session. They spoke five lines about their loved ones: father, mother, sister, brother or friend. They spoke about their innermost feelings in that session like whom do they consider their hero and why?
Teachers were amazed and delighted to hear how children poured their hearts out when speaking about their loved ones.
The day was all the more special as today ‘Basant Panchami’ was also celebrated in the school. Dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, Basant Panchami marks the arrival of the Spring season in India. Saraswati is the Goddess of knowledge, music, learning, and arts. It is believed that without her blessings, the world would be shrouded in ignorance, as she represents enlightenment. A special celebration on the occasion of Basant Panchami was conducted in GD Goenka Public School with the students of Pre-primary till grade II on 14th February 2024. All teachers wore yellow coloured dresses. The school‘s Chairman Shri Sarvesh Goel and school COO Ms. Lalita Goel witnessed the celebration by offering flowers and lightning the diya (lamp). The students, coordinators, activity in charge, and teachers from all segments were present and dressed in yellow coloured attires. The celebration commenced with the chanting of Saraswati Shloka followed by Saraswati Vandana. Thereafter, children were apprised of the significance of celebrating the festival and sweets were distributed amongst all. They also got the photo clicked with the Chairman Sir and Ma’am.
