Yoga classes:
Young minds pick up the habits and essence of what’s taught to them. Little Goenkans at GD Goenka Public School Mahanagar Branch are introduced to yoga classes on a weekly basis. Children are also made aware of the physical benefits of practicing yoga along with its educational benefits, such as improved attention, self-confidence, and relaxation.
On 21st of June International Yoga Day was celebrated at GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow. The students gathered in the school plaza for a special assembly in which a student spokesperson spoke about this 5000-year-old tradition that creates harmony between the soul and body, thought and action, restraint, and fulfillment, hence it is the only holistic approach to a healthy well being. The spokesperson also highlighted the efforts being put in by the Modi Government to bring in global awareness about Yoga and how regular practice of yoga should be a part and parcel of every student’s life.
This was followed by a yoga session conducted by Mr. Nitin Kumar Yadav, a state level Yoga expert. The session began with Mr. Yadav briefing the students about the significance of Yoga in a student’s life. In order to perform well academically, every student needs to have a healthy body and a healthy mind. The students also performed a few asanas like Sarpa Asana, Taar Asana, Hastha Uthan asana, Trikone Asana, Ardha Chakra Asana under Mr. Yadav’s demonstration and guidance. He also explained the significance of each Asana. Keeping in mind the pressure of studies, yoga practice is an essential part of the school curriculum.
