GD Goenka Public School, Cambridge, Lucknow, recently organised an engaging Picasso-themed art activity for students of Classes I and II. The session was designed to spark imagination, creativity, and self-expression among young learners while introducing them to the world of the legendary artist, Pablo Picasso.
The activity began with students being shown some of Picasso’s iconic works. Teachers discussed his unique artistic style, known for its abstract shapes, vibrant colours, and bold lines. Students were encouraged to observe his playful use of form and colour, inspiring them to think creatively rather than focus on realism.
Each child was given an outline sheet inspired by Picasso’s cubist art, which they coloured using imaginative combinations of hues and patterns. The young artists also added their own creative elements — from faces and animals to abstract objects — making every artwork a unique reflection of their ideas.
The experience not only enhanced students’ understanding of artistic expression but also improved their fine motor skills and confidence. Through experimentation with colours and shapes, they learned that art is about emotion, creativity, and storytelling .
The event concluded with a delightful classroom gallery display titled “Our Picasso World”, where all student artworks were exhibited. The display celebrated the individuality and imagination of every child, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Principal Dr. Prerna Mitra commended the students and teachers for their creativity and innovation, highlighting how such art-based learning nurtures holistic growth. Initiatives like these reaffirm GD Goenka’s reputation as the Best CBSE school in Lucknow, dedicated to providing students with a dynamic, joyful, and inspiring educational environment.
