Newspaper Dress Designing competition held at GD Goenka Public School. There are many articles which we come across in our daily life which seem wasteful or without any use to us. A newspaper is one such object. Once read, it is thrown away. It would surprise people to know how useful a newspaper can be. From acting as a table cover to… Even making dresses. Turning a waste material to something useful is a skill and requires a great amount of creativity.
The Inter-House Dress Designing competition, organized at G.D. Goenka Public School on July 30, 2018, was conducted keeping in mind the spirit and idea of turning waste into something beautiful. The students of classes IX-XII in teams of six dressed up doll models provided by the school in clothes made out of newspapers. The theme assigned to the four houses was “Bridal”.
The preparation for the competition began a week before 20th and all participants put in their heart, soul, and imagination into creating a unique piece of clothing. The students’ teamwork and dedication were indeed admirable.
The dresses were judged on the following parameters use of waste materials, theme, originality, color scheme, and overall presentation.
The judges, after careful evaluation, declared Teresa House the winner, while Radhakrishnan House and Vivekanand House bagged the second and third positions, respectively.
There is a hidden flair in every person. All one needs to do is realize this and set out to discover the talent.
